RECIPE OF THE MONTH (November 2008)

This month, we pay tribute to fall's favorite fruit.

I personally tried this recipe out recently using apples I picked myself at Wright Farms in Gardiner, NY. I served the pie warm with vanilla bean ice cream. YUM!

Enjoy!

Apple Pie *

(2) 9" pie crusts (I used the pre-made frozen kind)

1/2 Cup sugar

1/4 Cup brown sugar

1/4 Cup flour

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

dash of salt

1 Tbs. lemon juice

5 Cups sliced pared apples (5-8 apples)

margarine

• Pre-heat over to 425 degrees.

• Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
• Stir in apples.

• Turn into pastry-lined pie plate.
• Dot with margarine.
• Cover with top curst that has slits cut in it.
* Seal crimp edges.
• Bake for 25 minutes.

• Then turn oven down to 350 degrees and continue to bake for 35 about minutes. Crust should be brown and juice bubbling through slits.

*Special thanks Wright Farms in Gardiner, NY.
